Benjamin Kawak

In 2009, a new test campaign for the engine Vulcain 2 of the European rocket ARIANE V was performed on the test bench P5, in the German Space Centre (Lampoldshausen, Germany).
However, because of the change of the computer system, the test bench P5 has not been used for two years. For this reason, I was integrated with the P5 team and I achieved three projects in order to optimize several tasks needed by the P5 teamwork.
During the first eight weeks of my internship I created two Excel macros for the  experimental team. The first macro had to convert value whereas the second macro analyses data from amplifier values. These two projects enabled me to understand how the test  bench functioned and they allowed me to work on the regulation valves of the engine during the last five weeks. During this internship I had the opportunity to work  with an European team and to take part in fire tests, it was great !
