Contract Research

The EMAC : state-of -the-art research pole for industry

R&D generates innovation and is a key factor in business development.
The research carried out at the Ecole des Mines represents an annual investment of 2 millions euros

In support of business projects the Ecole des Mines offers:

  • the expertise of 65 researchers and 70 doctoral students,

  • the experience that comes from over 100 industrial partnership contracts,

  • highly advanced scientific equipment.

The skills of three research centers

1/ Research Center for Tooling, Materials and Processes
(CROMeP)

  • Activities : The CROMeP's activities focus on the optimization of material forming tools (for metals, plastics, glass, etc.),

  • Applications :

        - tool modeling and design,
        - tooling material behavior and durability,
        - solicitation measurement applied to tooling,
        - tool surface studies.

  • Industrial partnerships: car and aeronautics constructors and suppliers, tool manufacturers, foundries and ironworks, injection molding , thermoforming, lamination, packaging, etc.

2/ The Laboratory of Process Engineering of Divided Solids (LGPSD - Joint Research Unit - EMAC/CNRS)

  • Activities : Process Engineering of Divided Solids, applied to powders (for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and the food industry) and to energy treatments of waste (for transformation, stabilization, remediation and re-use of waste through the creation of new materials or energy).

  • Fields of research: this laboratory brings together expertise in the following fields:

        - Energy and the Environment

            Applications:
                . re-use of solid residues,
. production of energy from combustible solids (waste and biomass),
. control of pollution transfer in processes and into the environment

                . sludge drying.

            Industrial partners:
. cement factories, energy producing industries , sludge and waste treatment industries.

        - Heat treatment

            Applications :
                . thermal measurement in processes,
                . thermal and solar systems,
                . high temperature thermal processes.

            Industrial partners:
. aeronautics and space industries, construction.

        - Pharmaceuticals, Food industry

            Applications :
. generation of powders by innovative processes,
. formulation and forming of powders,
                . powder mechanics and flow.

            Industrial partners:

               . pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food industry.

3/ Industrial Management Research Center
(GI)

  • Activities: improving the adaptability and reactivity of industrial businesses.

  • Applications:

        - preparing reactivity through business organisation,
        - implementation of reactivity in the company.

  • Industrial partners : automobile component suppliers, IT service suppliers, pharmaceutical industry, food industry, heat treatment industries.
