The Industrial Engineering Center

Industrial engineering deals with a variety of problems (cf. "What is Industrial Engineering?"). The Industrial Engineering department does not claim to be able to cover all fields. Research works carried out in the department more specifically deal with product configuration, knowledge, supply chain management, risk and project management, enterprise modeling, information systems in enterprise. Most of these research topics are at the junction of two or three of these keywords (for instance, taking risks into account in the setting-up of information systems). Therefore, their tools are common as well: modeling, operational research, constraint programming, data processing management system.

In order to make the presentation of our work clearer, we subdivide the topics into three main themes:

  1. Structuring and exploitation of knowledge base in product/process design,
  2. Organization, setting-up and management of projects,
  3. Flow management in production and in supply chain networks.

In other respects, one can notice that the persons in charge of two graduate programs and one teaching department are attached to this department,

  • The "industrial engineering" educational option, directed to creating activity,
  • The "engineering of information systems", directed to integrated management of enterprise,
  • The "industrial engineering" teaching department, grouping together the courses of common-core syllabus in these subjects.
