Albi : a sweet place to live

DSC00189_Albi_7.jpg

Located one hour from Toulouse and two hours from Paris by plane, Albi is a fascinating town whose warm red color is reflected in the green waters of the Tarn river.  The small, narrow roads of the town converge toward the Sainte-Cecile Cathedrale, whose high, proud pinnacle dominates the region around the town.  Despite the undeniable historical interest of the town (Albi was at the center of  important medieval conflicts, and this heritage is omnipresent),

Albi today is a young (10% student population) and dynamic town, even from an industrial point of view. The Toulouse-Lautrec Museum is the fourth most visited provincial museum in France, while the « le Vieil Alby » (the old town) and the Palais de la Berbie are world-known tourist destinations.  The Albi open-air markets offer an ideal opportunity to get to know the warmth and friendliness of the people of the South of France.

The Cathedral City of Albi, unspoilt medieval jewel, joins the UNESCO World Heritage pantheon of sites of outstanding cultural value.

Often listed among the most pleasant towns of France, Albi is ideally located in the center of the Midi-Pyrenees region, thus allowing students easy access to the mountains for skiing, hang-gliding, hiking, mountain climbing, canoeing, rafting, etc.  In addition, the beaches of the Mediterranean are an hour’s drive away, while the countryside of the South of France can be explored year-round.

More locally, Albi itself offers many possibilities for outings, including several automobile sports (go-carting, races).
